A Few Guidelines for New Members

Post by Giulia »

Hello, Everyone!

We have set up this forum with a view to protecting our members from spammers and advertising. After a new member is approved by an Admin, they will be able to post in the forums that they have permission to see and use.

The concept of a Forum, for those of you who are not familiar with how they work, is pretty simple. A Forum on a certain subject can contain many Topics of which you, as the user, may create as many Topics as you wish, after which anybody who wishes to read and/or comment on that subject is free to do so.

Please try and stay on Topic with the original subject of the thread and not drift Off Topic, which is what we call Thread Drift. If that happens we will separate into individual Topic threads that drift to a different subject than the Original Topic, as we feel necessary.

There are many BBCODES available for any of you creative people to dress up your posts to make them prettier and more fun to read.

It is well known in various forums that, if you want to keep the attention of your fellow members, it is better to avoid posting very long messages and replies, which most people might not have the time to read fully. It is also better to avoid repetitive posts: if you come up with new ideas about a post you have just published, you can edit your original post and add the information.

If you wish to create large postings, we will create an individual personal Forum for you, where you can write as big a post as you so desire and then you can create a link to that posting.

We ask users to take the following basic rules into account:
  1. Be kind to one another. This site is aimed at a general audience, please be considerate of this. When there is a disagreement and neither person is going to listen or learn or accept what the other says, the best policy is to agree to disagree.
  2. Profanity may be deleted without notice.
  3. We have special areas of the forum devoted to discussing religious beliefs and ideas.
  4. Members who regularly contribute to the forum may post about books they have published in the book section, as long as content suits the educational aims of the NDERF.
  5. Please do not link to any material that does not respect copyright. No support will be provided to such sites.
  6. Please don't post on this site recruiting for personal projects or offering services outside of our forum. We consider this to be spam. If you would like to recruit people, PM a community member whose signature explicitly allows you to.
  7. Report any posts you feel contradict our policies by using the "post report" feature and the Community Team will handle them as needed. Please do not reply to these posts yourself.
We will be creating further rules as we go along, as we see how well everybody plays together.
