Of course acceptance helps you survive and want to survive as hostility as we're seeing in the present UK riots is saying go away, we don't want you here (living in the same space as us). It is mob violence like the cells in the body attacking external invaders but in this case rejecting culture (lifestyle). Mentally you see it where 'outsiders' instead of embracing difference try to convert it into safe, recognisable sameness.
