Good morning, everyone. My name is Francisco, and I am Brazilian.
I am writing a PhD thesis on near-death experiences and consciousness.
Regarding this topic, I need to narrow down my research somehow, as there are thousands of scientific articles on the subject. I would like to ask for your help, if you could tell me what the 10 most significant scientific works written so far on near-death experiences and consciousness are. And how we can verify that these are indeed the most significant works, as I need this information for my research.
I need official information that proves these are the most important works done in the world on the topic, as my advisor does not want me to use random studies, which could compromise the impartiality of my work. The most significant works could be those that have the largest number of hospital patients, for example, who were interviewed…
P.S.: I have been studying spirituality for many years… I have read more than 20 books by the world's greatest medium, Francisco Cândido Xavier, famously known as Chico Xavier. (Read the book "Paul and Stephen," it changed my life.)
Gratitude!!

Dr. Raymond Moody was the pioneer in NDEs, so you should start with him. PMH Atwater was another pioneer so check her out. Dr. Jeffrey Long founded NDERF, which is the basis for our Forum, so definitely include him. Paul Perry has been a prolific writer and researcher of NDEs, so look at his stuff. That should get you started. But Life After Life by Dr. Raymond Moody is the book that started it all.

The BICS Essay Contest comes to mind.

EDIT: I haven’t researched much into it, but The Munroe Instiute must have some stuff you need, and also Journey of Souls by Michael Newton.

I am IN LOVE with this book currently. Someone has uploaded the audiobook version to Youtube which makes it incredibly accessible as the narration is excellent, assuming you are looking for info on this topic - not something I would recommend to a casual however as I do believe the potential exists for this information to cause a full-on ego death to someone who is extremely "locked in" to their current incarnation!

I read this book years ago. I just may have to reread it Thank you, NDERFUSER, for the tip regarding the audio narration. That might be a more efficient option.
