This article suggests that, even though we think of the past like it’s a physical fact - like it’s real, the past is what we call our memory and stories about it. Imperfect memories, and stories built on one interpretation of incomplete information. It also suggests that we can change history.

Many near-death experiencers have described in their account an even more intense change in perspective, when they got to re-experience their own memory of their life events through the eyes and feelings of all those they had impacted with their actions, and a 360 degree view of past, present and future.
